Lunar New Year 2020

A couple of years ago, we created a series of social media content to commemorate the Lunar New Year... Let's continue the tradition. As seen on Behance. 
年廿九, 貼春聯. Families are finalizing the spring cleanup and decorating the home with red decorations to prepare for the main event.
年三十除夕, 守岁 开财门. Family Reunion Dinner and stay guard the houses from evil things by firecrackers to scare away evil spirits with the household doors sealed, not to be reopened until morning.
大年初一, 正日, 拜年. Stay awake from New Year eve and go to bed late, keeping awake the whole night/morning, to add on to parents’ longevity.
大年初二, 开年 Cantonese Businesses, will Hoi Nin to start their business to be blessed with good luck and prosperity.
大年初三, 赤口 unlucky day to have guests or go visiting, everyone should stay at home.
as Evil God 赤口 (Red-mouth) around which may provoke quarrels and unnecessary verbal conflicts, therefore family choose to stay at home and rest.
大年初四, 羊日 corporate “spring dinners” kick off and business returns to normal.
Usually, families will mash up leftover meals from the previous Lunar New Days into a big meal.
大年初五, 破五 God of Wealth’s birthday: eat jiaozi dumplings, and wrap up the main festive period by throwing a feast to celebrating God of Wealth (Chai-Shen)’s Birthday.
大年初六, 马日 Horse’s Day, on which people drive away from the Ghost of Poverty by throwing out the garbage.
大年初七, 人日 Renri (the common person’s birthday), and some families will eat “birthday noodles”.
大年初九, 天公诞生 is the birthday of the Jade Emperor (Hokkien).
元宵节 / 十五暝 Yuanxiao Festival / Lantern Festival (Chap Goh Mei) = Chinese Valentine’s Day.
