World-builders, Lore/Module writers and collectors, etc. are welcome too. Let’s share ideas, discuss, and support each other to grow the tabletop RPG community/industry in Malaysia.
In conjunction with Magic: the Gathering’s Marvel collaboration, we’re offering learn-to-play sessions of the game’s new set! This time around, we’re doing something different: two things; RPG x TCG.
The meeting commenced at 20:30, with a round of introductions where each participant mentioned their names, their sidegigs, and context for attending the book club.
Of the four (4) attendees, a quick show of hands revealed that all four (4) of them were Game Masters, and at least 1 them had experience with superhero-based TRPGs.
Unlike typical book clubs, and because TRPG books are a lengthy/laborious affair, we didn’t expect anyone to have literally read every word in the book. The discussions that proceeded the initial impressions, were about the sections of the book, and (because this wasn’t the first edition of a particular TRPG system) comparisons to previous editions of the games’ books.
Marvel Multiverse RPG isn’t well-known tabletop roleplaying games, so after briefly discussing the game system, the players copied the stats of the comic book characters they chose to play onto character sheets, we hosted a short actual-play session.
Across the road from an Avengers convention, three supers walked into a deli: Namor the Sub-Mariner, Vision, and Spider-Noir. They were attacked by a ship commanded by a Doombot, an emissary of Doctor Doom.
For this year’s ITTDMY, we’ve invited a variety of Malaysian board game designers to showcase their latest games. Come and meet the designers behind the Nasi Lemak Game, Pantheon Wars, Drama Pukul 7, Nak Makan Apa, Ketupat Rendang Game, Furmation of Rome, King & Peasant, etc. We’ll also be joined by Ku Play, purveyor of a variety of modern board games; and the local Othello gaming community who’ll be recruiting with aspirations to form Team Malaysia and compete internationally! This year, we’ll also be joined by the Singaporean game designer for Rats to Riches, and regional tabletop event organizer #LaiPlayLeow, making this year’s event truly international!
For this year’s ITTDMY, we’ve invited locally designed & made tabletop gaming miniatures, alongside one of the world’s most renowned miniature wargames! Hobby Outpost, will be featuring various aspects of the hobby: from painting, the lore, and wargaming for Warhammer, Marvel Crisis Protocol, etc. While Naga Minis will showcase their latest catalogue of Malaysian-designed miniatures! There will be painting workshops, with assistance from Paint Masters.
For this year’s ITTDMY, popular tabletop roleplaying game sessions are back! Embark on an adventure of a lifetime, save the world, survive and vanquish your foes. We’ll be featuring a spread of different RPGs, hosted by Game Masters from Here Be Dragons & Nightshade Tavern. Pre-booked and walk-in sessions available, and are beginner-friendly. Wither & Bloom, featuring Malaysian designed & made D&D inspired Stickers, Art Prints; and Diceworks Collective, a group of local dice makers! We’ll also be joined by local, world-renowned RPG game writers and designers: Centaur Games and Perfect Hole Productions!
For this year’s ITTDMY, we’ve invited Hobby Outpost and Boards & Brews, will be showcasing some of the most exciting TCGs in the scene with Learn-to-Play sessions from Game Masters of Flesh & Blood, Grand Archive, and Magic the Gathering! We’ll also be joined by the world-renowned, local TCG artist: Eloneth!
