Code of Conduct
Community Rules
- Stay on topic.
- Feel free to post anything related to tabletop games (and if possible, Malaysia.) Unrelated posts will be deleted. Repeat offenders will be banned. Members are encouraged to report abuse.
- What are you playing, and where are you?
- Tag “Playing” then the name or genre of the game you’d like to play or post about, and tag it with your location. It helps contextualize your request, especially if you’re looking for a group (LFG); helping us show the post to more relevant people.
- Photos, videos, links, and long texts are welcome.
- Moderators reserve the right to remove any overly graphic images/descriptions from the group, and ban the perpetrator.
- Please credit & link the source; but no piracy.
- Give credit where it’s due: put a link in the description of the photo/video to the source. We want to support the industry, to help our hobby to thrive in Malaysia and beyond. Hence, don’t discuss, distribute or link pirated content.
- You’re in a public space.
- This is not your personal space. Please keep all posts/comments PG13 (family-friendly). Do not use sexual innuendos, etc. Be accountable with your words and actions as you would in a public forum.
- Please don’t spam.
- Don’t be too repetitive or unconstructive, and try not to duplicate threads. This applies to event organizers as well: don’t post the same event multiple times, and not too many consecutive posts from the same organizer (max once per week per organizer.)
- Respect our privacy.
- Don’t publicly post your, or any of our members’ personal/contact details. Doing so will result in a ban on the offender and their organization/entity/group.
- Don’t gatekeep, intimidate, or troll.
- None of us are superior. We strive for equity. Do not bash others for their preferences, but do discuss game design, writing, art style, narration, role-playing, etc.
- Don’t defame, goad, or provoke.
- Refrain from using fighting words and actions: political, racial, religious, sexist, homophobic statements, or anything which can be deemed as discriminatory. The discovery of slander or libel that affects the community will also result in a ban.
- Don’t harass or stalk.
- Should anyone be suspected of being a bad actor, please report it to the Moderators. Unless invited, or coincidental, do not attempt to follow members to/in/around our spaces, events, etc.
Frequently Asked Questions
- I’m new, how do I get started?
- Make a new post, stating what you would like to do, e.g. What is a tabletop game? Can I join a group? What do I need to play? I’m looking for a group near me.
- If you already know what you want, state your location and mention the full name of the game you’re interested in as helps contextualize your request.
- What can I share in this group?
- Feel free to post anything related to tabletop games — videos, photos of your sessions, reviews, blog posts, interviews, questions on systems, etc.
- Can I share NSFW content?
- No. We want to remain open and welcoming to gamers from all walks of life, so please keep it PG13 (family-friendly).
- Can I share this cool visual/video?
- As long as it’s related to tabletop games, and is not pirated material, nor inappropriate according to the group rules, then you’re good to go.
- However, if the source is online, or you have a direct link to the source, consider sharing that instead of making a fresh upload; as that has a higher chance of them getting a lead than mere second-hand exposure. Failing that, reverse image search, or link to where you downloaded it in the first place will do.
- I’m a content creator, artist, writer, event organizer, store owner, etc. Can I advertise my product/services/venue here?
- Yes, of course. As long as it’s related to tabletop games, and you are situated (or able to deliver) to Malaysians. Clearly state what you offer, or it may be removed as spam.
- I’m hosting a new game/event, but I can’t get enough participants. Can I share a link to my event?
- Yes, you may share a link to your event, but refrain from posting it multiple times (even if it’s the same link being posted by multiple hosts, this may result in a ban of the offender and their organization/entity/group. Reach out to a Moderator if you need help promoting your event., and we may be able to figure out the best, scalable solution to your problem.
- I’m an event organizer, and I need the contact details of the participants. Can I ask for them?
- As fellow event organizers, we understand the need to collect data to facilitate and coordinate events. We recommend doing so in a secure manner via a private message, or with a secure data collection form.
- Please refrain from asking/encouraging people to publicly post their contact details. Doing so will result in a ban on the offender and their organization/entity/group.
- How offensive am I allowed to be?
- If you have to ask, then you aren’t allowed to be.
- I don’t like the kind of games they’re playing, and I don’t like this person.
- Every game system, group of people, etc. has their merit and brings intangible value to the community/industry as a whole. If something can be better, show what’s better, without putting down what you don’t like.
- What about freedom of speech?
- Intolerance cannot be tolerated. Breach of any rules may result in a temporary mute. Multiple breaches may result in a ban. We reserve the right to defend our community by denying entry to, removing, and/or banning individual(s) with previous records of violent/aggressive/insulting behaviour in adjacent communities, even if they have not violated any of the above rules per se; and the right to remove statements or actions intended to undermine the spirit of an inclusive community.
- If someone is muted or banned, they may only be reinstated with valid grounds. Such grounds may include misconstrued intentions, a clean history and previous constructive posts.
- What about freedom of information?
- Freedom is important, yet the intention to incite hatred is never acceptable. We don’t believe in giving more exposure to bad actors, or instigating a witch-hunt.
- Don’t undermine our community.
- The above rules & policies are non-exhaustive. Breach of any rules may result in a temporary mute. Multiple violations may result in a ban. We reserve the right to defend our community in the spirit of keeping it an inclusive one.
